The Cardiovascular Center of Excellence is the academic home for a highly productive and collaborative faculty with focus in the area of cardiovascular biology and medicine. Internationally recognized, these faculty are renowned for their "bench to bed-side approach" in fundamental discoveries that will lead into useful techniques for the expansion of existing research excellence and the establishment of innovative improved therapeutic targets in the cardiovascular disease arena.

The goals of the Center are:
- to strengthen the bridges
between basic and clinical Cardiopulmonary research
- to support cutting edge research
that leads to discovery of novel technologies and therapeutics
for treating a society afflicted with these diseases
- to expand current research
into promising new areas including stem cell biology
- to translate and commercialize
our discoveries into products (therapeutics) so that clinicians
can provide the best care
- to recruit prominent and
promising faculty that complement and enhance our current
research strengths
- to enhance the training of
graduate students and postdoctoral fellows, our “next generation”
of CV scientists
